Who is Suitable for Pilates?
Almost anyone is suitable for Pilates. Pilates is a low impact exercise regime which makes it suitable and beneficial for most people, regardless of your level of fitness.
Pilates begins at a basic level, focusing on correcting the position of the spine and activating the deep core muscles.Once this is mastered, exercises are progressed through different levels of difficulty to challenge the core.Exercises use body weight, upper/lower limb movement and small pieces of equipment to increase core strength.
Pilates is suitable for the following client groups:
- Post injury
If you have an injury, Pilates can speed up your recovery by strengthening specific muscle groups with pain free, low impact exercises.
- Chronic pain patients
Pilates is an excellent way for chronic pain patients to manage both their pain symptoms as well as their energy levels. It’s also a great method of relaxation too.
- Sporting individuals
For those interested in sports, Pilates can have a significant impact on performance, by developing a strong central core to enhance speed, accuracy and power of movement.
- Pre and post pregnancy
Prepare your body for giving birth, as well as improving recovery time post birth through Pilates! Book a private 1:1 session with one of our specially trained physiotherapists, or book a small group private session. We offer 1:1, 2:1 or 3:1 sessions, so you can bring a friend or two if you wish!
- Elderly
For the older population, Pilates is a great way to exercise as it is a form of low impact exercise which aims to develop important muscle strength which is vital to keep us moving well. Pilates can also be adapted to suit individual needs.
- People who are looking to make friends
Pilates is an enjoyable way of meeting new people while toning up!
Pilates can be enjoyed in a 1:1, 2:1, 3:1 setting or in one of our many Small group style classes. Alternatively, we offer home visit Pilates sessions where you can partake in Pilates in the comfort of your own home!
